The day before the snow storm comes.....

It was the day before the snow storm comes, some moms discussed about this after school, there will be snow storms tonight and tomorrow, probably at least 25cm.  I need to listen to the snow line tomorrow morning to see if no school or not.

Strong winds already said hello to Moncton and it was so chilly in the afternoon, thought it was minus 3, it felt like minus 8? I guess.

Moses and the other kids ran into the playground after school, I let him stay for a while as usual.  All kids were playing with the snow or some were sledding from the small hill in the playground.

Guiltar teacher Jerry came at 2:30 pm, Moses learned a new song today.  It has been a while that I didn't push Moses to write or do his Chinese homeworks, I know he does not feel interested but it is regret if he didn't learn it. The best way is to read some chinese books with him rather than asking him to do exercise, I think it will be more interesting.

Moses committed to teach Micah some words , numbers as for his goal setting 2011, he tried to do this but it seems that Micah prefers me to do so.. .. Micah, you know you should give your mom a break!

After school, Kids were so excited to play with the snows in the field,
He was reading his book.
Moses was playing games with Micah, let Micah show him what he asked.
He almost forgot all the chinese words so I read it to him and hope he can read by himself one day.

Moses had the guiltar lesson after school.

starting the regular lesson for Micah now!

He sat quietly and felt excited about his lesson.      He was reviewing the learning material from Puggles.

I cannot be too lazy now. Previously I only taught Micah some basic ABCS, numbers or new words , or read with him but without any systematic plan; I am glad that he is a good and quick learner, he can count 1 to 10 but I didn't teach him , I think he knows it from his brother, or some daily fun activities.
I trust the earlier education for little kids are base on funs, games and activities, not soley relying on books.

I decided to let him have a regular lesson everyday with a sysetmetic teaching plans . Moses went to pre-nursery school when he was two years in Hong Kong, there are a lot of debates about sending your little kids to school before three , four years old. In Hong Kong, some working moms have no other choices but sending their two-year old kids to school , I agree if they are being taken care of maids or grand-parents, they will be over-spoiled .

I always thought Micah is not a type of children who can sit properly and quietly at school to learn, nowI know I was wrong. Whenever he attends the sunday school at church, the leaders tells me he is doing very well in the class, he loves to sing, learn, color pictures, and listen to the stories.

Today, I started my regular lesson for him, I told him he had a class at 9:00 am and he was so excited, he sat very properly and listened to me.

Today his class covers :( total an hour )
1. learning A and B -
2. color : red
3. storytelling : three little pigs
4. color pictures
5. song: I love you .

He is not only a picky eater, but also picky audience, he only loves Barney, even I offered " Disney World Family", or other TV shows suitable for little kids, he refused!!

back to school after Christmas and new year break

Today Moses is back to school from his Christmas and new year break, last night he didn't want to go to bed at 9:00, when he went to bed, it was almost 10:00 pm... I anticipated that there will be trouble for him to get up this morning. Yes, he cried in the morning and asked him why he has to go to school???

It was so great that daddy got involved to get him up, I believe he was so happy when daddy carried him downstairs..

I coudn't sleep very well last night as Micah was too cranky in the midnight, I checked his temperture and he was fine, no fever.  This morning, both Micah and I were too sleepy that we slept again after Moses went to school, we didn't go to mother's club. Micah missed the playing time with the kids.. the leader brought the little kids out for a walk and Micah missed it.

Everything is back to normal and routine, Micah and I picked up Moses from school, and Moses played with the kids in the field for 20 mins.

Micah was too excited to see the snows everywhere, and he walked around and around with the little kids...
Posted by PicasaMicah looks so tiny when he was together with that little girl, why ? because
she is only 18 months old..
One the way back home, Moses told me it was a rough day for him. He shared to me that he made some mistakes when writing in the classroom, he used to write very long article and used different new words, he found some with wrong spelling. I told him because he spent too much time on TV shows and less reading during the reading, he has to learn from the consequences. I am glad that he can reflect on his mistakes and move on..

Sometimes it's better that kids can learn from a lesson, he will remember ! When he got home, he immediately studied his chapter book .

good buddies

We didn't have a plan to have 2nd baby when Moses was 3 years, due to the education system and costs of having children in Hong Kong. We always had a lot of gatherings with my friends, who are the families having the similar background, and we knew each other in a parenting discussing forum after Moses's born. All moms were breast-feeding our babies so we have common topics, common interests.

When Moses was about 3 years old, most of  my friends planned to have the 2nd baby, and some of them were pregnant. Man and I have been convinced to have 2nd baby by our friends but Man was quite insisted on his decision.
I started to be influenced by my friends, especially when seeing the more additions to their families, their 1st children love their sibling very much , and there were a lot of joys, warms from them.
Moses was the only one child in our family at that moment, and he kept asking me if he can have a little brother as well.

I started to pray to God and asked him to change Man's mind.... waiting and waiting for few months, he did change his mind and we tried to have the 2nd one.

In Sept 28 , 2008, Micah was born with a lot of blessings. Moses was so happy to see his brother.
Though they are 5 years apart, they can play together everyday. Of course, sibling rival is common which occurs in my house now, sometimes there is so noisy in the house when they fight for their TV shows, toys, but to me, I found it is a good for them to learn how to get along with people, especially for Moses, he has to learn to share, to love, to care others.

it is so lovely when they sit together.

Micah loves to follow what Moses does, I tell Moses that he has to be a good role model!

He could do it!

It was Jan 4 that our family went to Poley Mountain with Kim's family, Moses joined the 3-day ski camp, the kids are divided into different groups according to their ability, of course it was the first time Moses skiied,  he was the beginner. Mr Kim took him for a discover tour few days before the ski camp, he taught him the basic skills, how to stop, how to control his speed.

It was a nice day that wasn't too cold, or too chilly. Moses had 2 hour-class at 10:00am , then he moved to lunch with us. Halbert, Serena were the same group, while Justin was in the snowboard class.

I almost cannot believe my eyes, I was wondering why Moses could ski so well as a beginner level! Well done, good job Moses!  I still remember when he was in Hong Kong, he was so weak in sports. Sometimes we laughed at him because he ran too slowly, or he always couldn't perform himself in sport area. He didn't have confidence even we encouraged him . But today he proves to me that he can do this with the environment change, he got so much encourgement since he moved to Canada !  Too bad that I could not ski with him , I waited with Man and Moses in the cafeteria with Micah, though the all day long, I enjoyed very much watching his skiing, and glad that I could access into the internet with Wifi too!
